Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!
It's my first published piece in the Culture-Vulture section at Spero News! I am assured that my fee of ten thousand quatloos is on its way.
Come and rejoice with me, for I have found the sheep which was lost . . .
Catholicism, Opera, certain foreign languages, and Southern stuff . . .

And it was excellent. I can't wait for your next venture! :-)
It was most enjoyable, but I would like to comment on one phrase:
get rid of this folk stuff
Actually, what we need, after chant of course, is the inspiration of real folk music; e.g., Martin Shaw's An Anglican Folk Mass, inspired in style if not imitative in melody. I do not like it so much, but it definitely wears like iron. Martin Draper and Michael Willford of St. Mary's Primrose Hill say (2001):
"The Anglican Folk Mass is the only alternative to Merbecke that we can say was widely known everywhere in the Church of England."
So please do not let Peter, Paul, and Mary wannabes coöpt what should be a natural treasure for musicians.
